The Artist

May 20, 1944 - October 22, 2024

Anthony Morgan Buxton was born and raised in New England. After writing about Walt Whitman at Boston University, he headed west. He attended The San Francisco Arts Institute, then traveled in Europe. He moved to rural Colorado to raise a family and travelled by bus with his wife and children through Mexico. He spent the majority of his life in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, which he loved deeply.

The Art

Anthony's playful nature led him to experiment - he painted murals; he wrote comic books; he made mandalas and yantras; he painted gourds and rocks into animals and insects. He made toys for his children when they were young, including a store/cafe, a dollhouse, and a number of puzzles.

In the last several years of his life, Anthony was extremely prolific, often completing more than one drawing a day.

His art reflects his gentle humor and curious spirit, as well as his deep trust in the sanctity of nature.

The Collection

This website represents only a fragment of Anthony's collection. Anthony regularly gave away his art and did not keep track of who he gave it to. The last link is for "lost art", or art Anthony gave away and did not catalogue beforehand.
